Welcome to 1963 – Please buckle your seatbelt!

It’s been called the year America grew up, the year that the slide began, the year it all went wrong. Whatever labels we may give to it, there’s no denying that 1963 was a watershed year. It began with a dubious centennial – 100 years since the end of slavery – and ended with a nation in mourning.
